ADB presents new Turkmenistan Country Operations Business Plan for 2018-2019

Recently, Asian Development Bank has published its country Operations Business Plan (COBP) for 2018-2019. The COPB 2018–2019 is aligned with ADB’s country partnership strategy for 2017–2021, which supports the Government of Turkmenistan tasks on diversification the economy. The plan will remain focused on the energy, transport sectors and private sector development through small- and medium-sized enterprise finance. Turkmenistan is classified as a country eligible to access ADB’s ordinary capital resources (OCR). The COBP’s lending program, totaling US $ 950 million is aimed at following projects:
- Energy project: Key areas - increased electric interconnections with neighboring countries and raising power exports, including through TUTAP interconnection between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. The amount of indicative resource allocation is US $ 150 million.
- Transport area: Key areas of assistance will be upgrading roads and road safety, as well as railway modernization) – the amount of lending is US $ 600 million.
- Promotion of private sector businesses: Key areas - SME finance, capacity development and knowledge sharing with participating financial institutions will absorb US $ 200 million.
