UEFA moved the matches of the national teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan to neutral fields


The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has decided to postpone the October group stage matches of the League of Nations with the participation of the national teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan to neutral fields, TASS reports with reference to the UEFA press service. This decision was made in connection with the introduction of martial law in both countries. The group stage match of the League of Nations between the teams of Armenia and Georgia has been moved from Yerevan to the Polish city of Tychy - the meeting will take place on October 11th. The game of the national teams of Azerbaijan and Cyprus has been moved from Baku to Albanian Elbasan - the match will be held on October 13th. Earlier, UEFA announced the cancellation of the friendly match between the teams of Armenia and Albania. The match was supposed to take place on October 7th in Yerevan. Martial law in Armenia and Azerbaijan was introduced on September 27th against the background of an acute conflict between the countries in Nagorno-Karabakh. Both sides reported killed and wounded, including civilians. All sports competitions on the territory of Armenia were suspended.
