The President of Turkmenistan Inspected the Progress of the Harvest in the Ahal Region

The main agricultural campaign of the summer has entered its most active phase. On Wednesday, June 17, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to the Ahal region to personally inspect the progress of the harvest, visiting a wheat field belonging to the Gäwers farmer association in the Ak Bugday district.
At the field, the head of state was met by agricultural sector leaders and the velayat governor. The current harvest is taking place amidst comprehensive technical and financial modernization of the sector. It is worth noting that, since previous seasons, state procurement prices for wheat, cotton, and rice have been significantly increased, providing a powerful incentive for agricultural workers. Today, modern, high-performance grain harvesters purchased by the state are in operation around the clock in the fields, allowing farmers to harvest their abundant crops quickly and without losses.
A highlight of the trip was a visit to the plot of local tenant farmer D. Mukhammetsahedov, who has been farming since 2012. Of his 28 hectares, he has planted half to cotton, and the remaining 14 hectares to high-yielding wheat, expecting to obtain approximately 40 centners of grain per hectare. At the farmer's request, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov cut the first small sheaf with the words "Bismilla," blessing the beginning of the harvest, after which combine harvesters immediately entered the field.
During a conversation with the farmer, the head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan will always support those who honestly work the land, providing them with machinery, seeds, and fertilizers.
Along with mechanization, agricultural science is currently receiving great attention. For example, specialists from the Research Institute of Grain Growing of the Ministry of Agriculture have developed new promising winter wheat varieties, symbolically named "Serdar," "Arkadag," and "Pyragy," developed with consideration for local climatic conditions and innovative crop rotation principles. The President of Turkmenistan also toured an exhibition of fruits and vegetables, grains, and fresh baked goods made from flour from the new harvest. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev also reported to the head of state on the state of the country's fields.
After hearing the report, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the successful completion of the harvest, loss-free grain collection, uninterrupted receipt, and proper storage are key to further strengthening Turkmenistan's food supply, instructing the Deputy Prime Minister to keep these processes under constant review. At the end of his visit, the head of state presented the tenant farmer with commemorative gifts and wished all domestic grain growers continued success in their noble work.
