On October 2, 2024, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva, in cooperation with the permanent missions of the Central Asian countries, organized a side event on the theme "Human Rights and the Right to Development" within the framework of the 57th session of the Human Rights Council.

The event was attended by the permanent representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan as well as representatives of international organizations and human rights experts.

During the event, Vepa Hajiyev, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, delivered a speech. In his address, he emphasized the importance of the right to development as a fundamental element of human rights and highlighted Turkmenistan's ongoing efforts in this area.

Ambassador Hajiyev noted that national programs aimed at improving the quality of life of the population are being implemented in the country. These initiatives encompass structural reforms, job creation, and support for small and medium-sized businesses, opening new opportunities for citizens, including people with disabilities.

In concluding his speech, he underscored Turkmenistan's commitment to building a socially-oriented state, maintaining its status of permanent neutrality, and contributing to regional stability and security.
