Sculptor Saragt Babayev and artist Annajemal Nurmuhammedova were awarded the title of Hero of Turkmenistan
By the decrees of the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the title of “Hero of Turkmenistan” has been awarded to prominent cultural figures sculptor Saragt Babayev and artist Annajemal Nurmuhammedova.
Saragt Babayev was awarded this highest honor for his long-standing services to independent, neutral Turkmenistan, including the creation of a monument to the great philosopher and classic poet of the East, Magtymguly Fragi, as well as his significant personal involvement in nurturing young sculptors, continuing the tradition of mentorship, and establishing a distinctive sculptural school in the fine arts."
Annajemal Nurmuhammedova was also awarded the title for her long-standing service and significant personal involvement in the achievements of Turkmen culture and art, the development and promotion of national culture, national song, music, and dance art, as well as her extensive work in nurturing talented youth.
The ceremony of awarding the persons awarded the title “Hero of Turkmenistan” and the gold medal “Altyn aý” was held at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty on Tuesday, 24 September. The highest state award was presented to the People's Artist of Turkmenistan and laureate of the International Magtymguly Prize, A. Nurmuhammedova, and renowned sculptor and People's Artist of Turkmenistan, S. Babayev, by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the Head of State for the great honor - awarding the title “Hero of Turkmenistan”, A. Nurmuhammedova and S. Babayev emphasized that such a high appreciation of their work will inspire them to undertake new endeavors, according to a report by TDH.
