Urumqi Discusses Ways to Expand Ties between Turkmenistan and Xinjiang
During his visit to China, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atakhalliyev met with head of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Ma Xingrui and Chairman of the People's Government of this autonomous region of China Erkin Tuniyaz in Urumqi on August 2.
The parties discussed deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between Xinjiang and Turkmenistan, noting the importance of implementing the strategic agreements reached between the leaderships of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to further strengthening cooperation in such areas as agriculture, energy, education and medicine, Xinjiang Daily reports.
In particular, the agricultural sector was considered as an important starting point for partnership, including in the field of seed production, agricultural machinery and equipment, processing of agricultural products, conservation of agricultural water, etc.
Agriculture is the basic sector of the Turkmen economy, and the state systematically promotes the accelerated development of the agro-industrial complex, Atakhalliyev noted. He also assessed the results in the development of modern agriculture in China's Xinjiang, advanced experience of which was introduced to the Turkmen delegation during this visit, and expressed hope for expanding exchanges and contacts in the field of scientific selection, animal husbandry and the production of finished products from agricultural raw materials.
