Talks between the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom were held in Ashgabat


Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov met with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth Affairs and Development of the United Kingdom David Cameron at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting on Wednesday, April 24, a range of issues in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas of bilateral cooperation, as well as the regional and international agenda were discussed.

The heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom stated the importance of continuing cooperation between the countries on international platforms, primarily within the framework of the United Nations, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
“Underlining the importance of the Program of Cooperation signed on the eve between the foreign ministries of the two countries, the diplomats agreed to continue regular inter-ministerial consultations,” the message says.

The agenda of the talks included issues of trade and economic cooperation. In this context, the importance of the activities of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council (TUKTIC) was emphasized.
Among the promising areas of Turkmen-British relations, the sphere of environmental protection and climate change, the “green” transition, culture, education and others were also identified.
