A creative evening dedicated to Magtymguly was held at the Writers' Union of the Republic of Belarus
In Minsk, in the large building of the House of Writers, on Thursday, April 18, a creative evening dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi was held. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus together with the Writers' Union of the Republic of Belarus.
The creative meeting was attended by Chairman of the Writers' Union of Belarus, Director-Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house "Zvezda" Ales Karlyukevich, famous poets Kazimir Kameisha, Naum Galperovich, Viktor Shnip, senior employees of the Writers' Union of Belarus, students of higher educational institutions of Minsk from among citizens of Turkmenistan, representatives Turkmen diaspora, as well as employees of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.
Ales Karlyukevich and Ambassador of Turkmenistan Nazarguly Shagulyev delivered welcoming address to the audience.
The head of the Union of Writers of Belarus, literary critic, journalist, spoke about plans to hold a joint round table with the Turkmen side on the study and popularization of Magtymguly’s heritage and called on young people, Belarusian and Turkmen students, to take an active part in this and other planned events.
The Writers’ Union of Belarus and the publishing house "Zvezda" have prepared a series of materials for publication on their printed and Internet resources about the work of Magtymguly Fragi, as well as new translations of his poems into the Belarusian language, made by famous Belarusian writers.
The head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission told the meeting participants about major international events to be held in Turkmenistan and other countries in connection with the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi and to popularize his literary and philosophical heritage in the world.
Representatives of the Writers' Union of Belarus, as well as students of Minsk universities, spoke at the evening, sharing their impressions and thoughts about Magtymguly’s work and reading his poems.
During the event, thematic videos prepared by the Embassy of Turkmenistan were presented, a photo exhibition and an exhibition of national attributes, works of art and literature, a master class on national dances, and a festive concert were organized.
