President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday, April 16, the new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ahsan Vahan, who presented credentials to the head of state.

The diplomat conveyed greetings from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the Head of state and the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, who confirmed their readiness to intensify constructive Turkmen-Pakistani dialogue. The Ambassador testified to his country's great interest in developing cooperation with Turkmenistan for common purposes and interests.

Having conveyed greetings in return to the leadership of Pakistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov also expressed gratitude for the active support of Turkmenistan's initiatives on the world stage to ensure peace, security and sustainable development.

According to the State news Service of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in key sectors of the economy, in particular, in the fuel and energy sector, transport and communications. Special emphasis was placed on the possibilities of expanding trade and economic relations.

A separate topic was the discussion of the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project and power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.
