New institutions of commissioners will be introduced in Turkmenistan: for the
protection of the rights of children, women and entrepreneurs. Issues related to the
opening of new areas in the structure of the Ombudsman's Office were considered
at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Ensuring Compliance with
Turkmenistan's International Obligations in the field of human Rights and
International Humanitarian Law, which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
on Saturday, April 6.New institutions of commissioners will be introduced in Turkmenistan: for the

To date, the structure of the Ombudsman's Office consists of one department for the protection of human rights and work with citizens' appeals.

The Law of Turkmenistan "On the Ombudsman" was adopted in November 2016. On March 20, 2017, the Authorized Representative for Human Rights in Turkmenistan was elected. On April 8 of the same year, the Office of the Ombudsman was established, which currently has nine people.

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman; Swedish. ombudsman - a representative of someone's interests) is an official who monitors the provision and observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens by state authorities, local governments, organizations and officials.
