Uzbek pop stars Farhad and Shirin recorded a song based on the words of Magtymguly
Uzbek pop stars, the charming duo Farhad and Shirin, recorded and performed a song based on Magtymguly’s poem “Habar ber – şeýledir”.
In the poem, two poets compete with each other in wit, trying to answer seemingly simple questions. One asks a question, and the other, with the stormy support of the listeners, gives a worthy answer, each time ending his speech with the phrase “here is our answer to you.”
The duo Farhad and Shirin (the name of the group comes from the names of the participants - Farkhod Suleymanov and Shirin Muzaffarova) also prepared a video for the composition, which is gaining millions of views on the Internet.
Magtymguly’s work is extremely popular among the peoples of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan. After all, while still young, Magtymguly studied at the most prestigious educational institution of that time - the Shirgazi madrasah in Khiva.
Many Uzbek folk songs are based on the poems of Magtymguly; his poems are sung by the great Uzbek khofizas Mukhiddin Kori Yokubov, Orif Alimakhsumov, Komiljon Otaniyozov, Fakhriddin Umarov.
The team itself, Farhad and Shirin, previously performed before the Turkmen audience, winning its great love.
It should be noted that one of the streets of the Uzbek capital is named after Magtymguly.
