Negotiations with the head of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan were held in the House of Representatives of the Tajik Parliament
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoyom Zokirzoda on Friday, April 5, during an official visit to Dushanbe.
The Speaker of the lower house of the Tajik parliament noted that this meeting will give a serious impetus to the development of inter-parliamentary relations between the two states, stressing that Turkmenistan occupies one of the important places in Tajikistan's foreign policy strategy.
It was noted that the Interparliamentary Friendship and Cooperation Group with Turkmenistan is one of the first groups that was established after gaining state independence and the establishment of a professional Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan.
"We can also continue the work of the friendship group on coordinating legislation, especially in the context of integration processes, and, accordingly, make full use of the opportunities for cooperation. We believe that the exchange of delegations at the level of heads of parliaments and friendship groups will contribute to the development of this area of cooperation," Zokirzoda said, according to NIAT Khovar.
Also on this day, members of the Turkmen delegation held meetings with deputies of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Thus, negotiations were held between the chairmen of the committees on economics and finance, on state structure and local self-government, the Environmental Commission and the Tajik-Turkmen Friendship Group of the House of Representatives with the Chairman of the committees of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on work with local representative bodies and on economic issues.
