OSCE PA Special Representative for Central Asia Farah Karimi is on a visit to Ashgabat


The delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly headed by the Special Representative for Central Asia Farah Karimi is on a visit to Ashgabat. On Friday, April 5, the delegation was received in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, Speaker of the National Parliament Dunyagozel Gulmanova noted that the development of cooperation with international organizations, including the OSCE, is one of the important directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, and the scale of cooperation with this organization is expanding in new directions.
In the field of global security, Turkmenistan consistently promotes a culture of dialogue and the use of diplomatic tools in solving international problems. In particular, the importance of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution establishing 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust was stressed.
On the OSCE platform, Turkmenistan also advocates regional economic cooperation, cooperation in the field of environmental safety and joint discussion of issues related to climate change.
OSCE PA Special Representative Farah Karimi also held a meeting today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with Deputy Minister Mahri Bashimova, who noted that at present the inter-parliamentary dialogue is one of the most important tools for promoting creative partnership, maintaining mutual understanding and trust between states.
In this regard, during the meeting, the urgency of coordinating common efforts in ensuring economic development, environmental issues and environmental protection, rational use of water resources, work with youth, as well as support for the format of the "Dialogue of Women of Central Asian countries" was emphasized.
