Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are ready to expand strategic cooperation in the gas industry


Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov and Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern Maksat Babayev held negotiations with Chairman of the Board of the National Company of Kazakhstan “QazaqGaz” Sanzhar Zharkeshov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit.
The parties discussed plans to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the gas industry. In particular, they noted mutual interest in the joint development of production assets, the implementation of gas pipeline projects in the territory of the two countries and gas supplies on a mutually beneficial basis.
Following the meetings, the parties expressed their readiness to cooperate to expand strategic cooperation in the gas industry.
Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliev said that the country “is ready to consider the proposals of our Turkmen colleagues for both gas and electricity, depending on the commercial attractiveness for our consumers.”
In early March, Turkmenistan expressed its intention to supply natural gas and electricity to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
