The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discussed joint plans with the International Organization for Migration


On Tuesday, April 2, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with the regional coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia (IOM) Zeynal Hajiyev.
The issues of ensuring the rights of refugees and stateless persons, countering human trafficking are considered by Turkmenistan as priority areas of cooperation with reputable international organizations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.
The meeting noted the successful implementation of projects planned by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the IOM representative office in the country in 2023, and discussed the action plan for 2024 and the near future.
It was also pointed out that Turkmenistan is systematically working to eliminate statelessness in accordance with the National Action Plan in this area for 2019- 2024.
Turkmenistan remains committed to its commitments to address issues with refugees, stateless persons and migrants at the national and international levels, and actively participates in various IOM regional projects, implementing the national segment in them.
