On Saturday, March 30, the head of the department, Azat Atamyradov, met with the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Ashgabat, Vafo Niyatbekzoda, in the office building of the Turkmendemirellary agency ("Turkmen Railways").

The sides exchanged views on the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of railway transport. Special attention was paid to the issues of increasing the volume of freight traffic between the countries. The head of the agency, through the ambassador, invited a delegation of Tajikistan, including representatives of the railway industry, as well as the largest export-import companies, to visit Ashgabat for more detailed negotiations on the development of logistics and increasing mutual cargo turnover, according to the agency's website.

It was noted that the international multimodal corridor CASCA+ along the route of the Asia–Pacific region – China - Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey – Europe is developing rapidly. The Tajik diplomat expressed his country's interest in connecting to this corridor and said that he would discuss this issue with the Tajik railway authorities.

It was also proposed to hold an online meeting of specialists from the railway departments of the two countries in the near future in order to facilitate the implementation of the Agreement on Strengthening the Interconnectedness of Land Transport in Central Asia, which was signed in September 2023 by the heads of ministries and departments of the countries of the region responsible for the field of transport, within the framework of the V Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

The agreement provides for the further creation of favorable conditions in the region for the development of international land transport, ensuring a competitive environment in the transport services market.
