Recruits of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan completed a course on preventing illegal trafficking of ozone-depleting substances


Recruits of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a seminar on preventing illegal trafficking of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons. This was reported on the website of the customs department of Turkmenistan.
It was conducted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The national expert on the circulation of ODS introduced the participants to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Key areas of monitoring and control over ozone-depleting substances (ODS) were presented to their attention.
The theoretical knowledge of the participants was supported by practical exercises on identifying ODS based on customs documentation, visual inspection of containers and using ozone-depleting substance identifiers.
