The Mejlis has adopted a number of laws, including encouraging people with disabilities to play sports
A number of laws were adopted at a meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on Saturday, March 30. Among them is the law on energy conservation and energy efficiency, which provides for the use of energy–efficient technologies and the introduction of energy management in the country, which will contribute to saving and efficient use of energy.
The deputies also approved and adopted the law on hydrometeorological activities aimed at legal support for the state environmental policy and the national program to reduce methane emissions, the initiative to create a specialized UN structure in Turkmenistan – a regional center for technologies related to climate change in Central Asia.
The Mejlis ratified the intergovernmental agreement between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China on international road transport, which the parties concluded during the 6th meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation in Ashgabat, in November 2023.
In addition, laws on amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure and some other legislative acts have been adopted.
In order to encourage people with disabilities, with disabilities engaged in physical education and sports, and bring them into line with the norms adopted in world practice, the Law "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan" was considered, which provides for the improvement of the Provisions on the honorary titles "Honored Master of Sports of Turkmenistan" and "Honored Coach of Turkmenistan". This will provide great support in introducing people with disabilities and those with disabilities to sports, the website of the Mejlis says.
