The delegation of Turkmen specialists studied the experience of Uzbekistan in the labor sphere


Within the framework of a joint project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Program “Safe migration in Central Asia” in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, a study visit was organized from March 24 to 28 by a delegation of representatives of the named department, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of the country to Uzbekistan to study experience in the field of improving labor relations norms.

Turkmen specialists got acquainted with the reforms and legislative norms in the field of labor inspection, prevention of labor violations, and the introduction of a three-level system for countering labor violations. In particular, the role of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work and the Institute of the National Rapporteur on These Issues, established in Uzbekistan in December 2023, were considered.

The delegation also studied the work of the feedback mechanism of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction and the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Reforms in agriculture, strengthening dialogue with international organizations in the field of labor, and the introduction of a three- level monitoring system in this area also became important topics.

During the visit, meetings were held with the leadership and senior officials of various government departments of Uzbekistan, including the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the State Labor Inspectorate, the Federation of Trade Unions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as with representatives of the International Labor Organization Program in Uzbekistan and the UN Regional Office for Combating Crime and Drugs. During these meetings, prospects for further cooperation and events planned for 2024/2025 were discussed.
