Preparations are underway for the upcoming trip of the Iranian president to Ashgabat, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian told reporters, summing up the results of his visit to Turkmenistan. He noted that both sides reviewed the implementation of the agreements agreed upon by the heads of the two countries during the meeting in Tehran.
Bilateral relations between Iran and Turkmenistan in various political, economic and cultural fields are in favorable conditions, and cooperation between the two countries is developing in the fields of gas, electricity, water, transit and trade, Iranian Foreign Minister to Turkmenistan said at a press conference.
On Thursday, Amir Abdollahiyan met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, discussing a wide range of issues with them.

On March 28, he also met with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov. The sides exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments.
The diplomats discussed ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, transit and transport, as well as the issue of water resources management in a regional context. They also discussed the cooperation of the Caspian littoral countries. Iran has confirmed its readiness to host the 3rd Caspian Economic Forum.
Rashid Meredov called the Caspian Sea a sea of peace, understanding and cooperation, speaking in favor of expanding economic cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
According to a reporter from Journews in Ashgabat, Abdollahiyan said at a press conference that in the near future "we will witness a significant increase in trade between Iran and Turkmenistan."
