The National Barcode Organization of Turkmenistan celebrated its tenth anniversary

On March 2, the National Barcode Organization of Turkmenistan, a member of the international structure GS1, celebrated ten years since its formation, traditionally marking this date with a general meeting of its members.
Chairwoman of NBOT, Aikamar Myalikgulyeva, made a detailed review of the organization’s activities for the indicated period and the implementation of the work program for 2023-2024, which provides for the introduction of automatic identification technologies and GS1 standards in various sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan. The report noted the organization's achievements in these areas and identified tasks for the coming period.
As noted, to date, over 76 thousand bar codes have been issued, and domestic commercial products have been assigned the appropriate labeling. NBOT has fully covered the system of automatic identification of Turkmen producers, which is an effective guarantor for their promotion to world markets.
The National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes includes 2,440 structures, including ministries and line departments, organizations and enterprises of the public and private sectors.
Among the achievements of NBOT over 10 years are membership in the international organization GS1, the creation of the National Technical Committee for Standardization, and the opening in 2017 of a verification laboratory that allows monitoring compliance of barcode application with international standards.

Over the past decade, work has been successfully done to harmonize national standards with international documents and actively implement international and interstate standards into practice.
The “Made in Turkmenistan” website developed by NBOT also contributes to improving the information database on Turkmen commodity producers.
NBOT plans to continue its work to support the effective use of various types of automatic identification in various fields. A platform is currently being developed to protect the rights of commodity producers.
A positive assessment of the work of the NBOT was given in the speeches of its members - representatives of public and private structures. The importance of the organization’s activities was stated in the light of the assigned tasks for the development of public-private partnerships, the implementation of the Digital Economy Concept, creation of new high-tech industries and promotion of products of Turkmen producers to foreign markets.
The meeting participants also heard a report on the activities of the control and audit commission and considered a number of organizational issues.
