UNRCCA will conduct regional trainings on countering terrorism


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met on Tuesday, March 26, with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Kakha Imnadze.
They discussed key aspects of cooperation and prospects for its development, highly appreciating the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and UNRCCA, especially in the context of the implementation of the UN Global Counter- Terrorism Strategy at the regional level.

The Turkmen side emphasized its interest in strengthening the role of the Center in the field of multilateral diplomacy and actively promoting initiatives to combat terrorism. The parties also considered the possibility of holding by UNRCCA, together with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, a number of regional trainings, seminars on countering terrorism, and organizing the exchange of experience in this area.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the UN Global Counter- Terrorism Strategy at the regional level, based on the provisions of the Ashgabat Declaration of 2011 and the Joint Plan of Action to Counter Terrorism in Central Asia, which was adopted in 2022, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
