The delegation of Turkmenistan participates in UNODC events in Vienna


The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, took part in side events dedicated to the activities of the Central Asian Regional Information Coordination Center for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors (CARICC). Side events were organized as part of the high-level segment and the regular 67th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, which takes place from March 14 to 22, 2024 at UN headquarters in Vienna.

The meeting was also attended by heads and employees of the anti-drug authorities of the CARICC member states, representatives of the head and Tashkent offices of UNODC, experts from Interpol and other international structures. The participants exchanged views, experiences, achievements and upcoming challenges in the fight against illicit drug use, and also assessed the role of CARICC in this regard.
In their speeches, delegates from Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the Center in promoting objectives aimed at preventing drug-related problems and strengthening effective cooperation between the parties.

As the current chairing country, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the active work of CARICC.
Also on March 19, a delegation of Turkmenistan led by the country’s ambassador in Vienna participated in a meeting between CARICC Director A. Yazlyev and UNODC Executive Director G. Vali, according to the organization’s website.

On March 18, a side event was held in Vienna with the participation of partners of the Central Asia Drug Prevention Program (CADAP) as part of the 67th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
In the speech, the Turkmen delegation noted the areas of cooperation established under the CADAP program, the accumulated experience, and the healthy lifestyle being actively introduced in the country.
