Afghanistan to launch practical implementation of TAPI project soon
Afghanistan will start practical implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project (TAPI) in the next three months, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan stated on Sunday.
"In the view of Afghanistan’s growing economic cooperation and connectivity with the regional countries, it is expected that the process of implementation of the TAPI project in the country will be started in a special ceremony", quoted TOLO News agency the Ministry’s speaker Abdul Qadeer Mutfi.
Afghan segment of the pipeline lengthy over 700 km will stretch via the western provinces of Herat, Farah, Helmand and Nimroz alongside the Kandahar-Herat highway.
According to preliminary estimates, the annual transit profit from TAPI to the budget of Afghanistan will reach US $ 1 billion.
In addition, the grandiose project will provide the population and economy of the neighboring country with over 12,000 jobs, direct gas supplies and infrastructure upgrade along the pipeline route.
