It was noted that the successful implementation of the sustainable development agenda depends on the country's commitment to respect and protection of the human rights. With the support of UN agencies, Turkmenistan develops partnership with UN human rights institutions, including reporting to treaty bodies and other mechanisms in the field of human rights.
The implementation of interaction plans will strengthen the system of protection of rights, including the strengthening of existing and the creation of new institutions in the field of human rights. One of these new bodies was the Ombudsman institution, the Ombudsman for Human Rights.
The National Action Plan for Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2016-2020 is aimed at further improving the activities of state bodies and public organizations to ensure human rights and freedoms, as well as the implementation of international humanitarian law in the country's legislation and law enforcement practice.
