Qatar will increase LNG production capacity by the end of the decade

By the end of this decade, Qatar plans to increase its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity by about 85%. This is stated in a press release from the Qatari national oil and gas company QatarEnergy.
The country can now produce about 77 million tons of LNG per year. According to the Minister of Energy of the State of Qatar Saad Al Kaabi, who is also the President of QatarEnergy, this figure will rise to 142 million tons per year by the end of 2030.
Qatar is one of the largest LNG exporters in the world, along with Australia and the United States. Estimates of the country's proven natural gas reserves have been boosted by the discovery of additional deposits in the country's largest field, North Field. It is located in the central part of the Persian Gulf northeast of Qatar and includes two oil fields - Ash Shaheen and Bul Hanayn.
Qatar's reserves are now estimated to exceed 2 thousand trillion cubic feet.
The British oil and gas company Shell predicted that by 2040, global demand for LNG will increase by more than one and a half times, reaching 625-685 million tons per year.
