The Union of Writers of Belarus joins the celebration of the anniversary of Magtymguly
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Minsk, Nazarguly Shagulyev, met on Friday, February 23, with the chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus, director-editor- in-chief of the publishing house "Zvezda" Alexander Karlyukevich.
The meeting, initiated by the Turkmen side, was devoted to discussing issues of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The Ambassador informed Karlyukevich about the celebration in 2024 of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, the program of popularization events that are taking place on this occasion in Turkmenistan and other countries.
In turn, Alexander Karlyukevich said that the Union of Writers of Belarus and the publishing house Zvezda are preparing a selection of materials for publication in their print and online publications about the literary work of Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as new translations of his poems into Belarusian, prepared by Belarusian writers.
Shagulyev and Karlyukevich outlined plans to hold a joint round table and a creative evening at the site of the Union of Writers of Belarus in honor of the anniversary date. They agreed that it was important to actively involve young people, including Belarusian and Turkmen students, in participating in these events. An agreement was reached to hold a joint exhibition of Magtymguly’s works, where translations of his poems in various languages, including Belarusian and Russian, will be presented.
