Within the framework of the Iran Maritime Economy Forum, representatives of the Agency of Maritime and River Routes made a business visit to the special economic zone and the port of Amirabad in the Caspian Sea.

Here they held talks with their Iranian counterparts, presenting the services and potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the national merchant fleet of Turkmenistan, according to the agency's website.

The negotiations discussed the resumption of navigation on the Turkmenbashi-Amirabad line, in particular, the establishment of feeder communication, which will strengthen the positions of the two ports in international transport corridors and maritime trade. They also discussed the preparation of an agreement between the Turkmenbashi port and the Amirabad port Special Economic zone.

The port of Amirabad owns a 59% share in maritime trade in the Caspian Sea. According to the Director General of the port, Mohammad Ali Musapur, imports of goods in this port have increased significantly due to private sector investments in the construction of bunkers and covered storage facilities, as well as the position of the port of Amirabad in the International North-South Transport Corridor.

It is expected that by the end of the Iranian year (March 20, 2024), a new record in the field of loading and unloading of goods will be registered at the port, Mohammad Ali Musapour noted.
