"We welcome Turkmenistan's international initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and security in Central Asia. We note the significant contribution of Turkmen diplomats to the work of the UN institutions. Largely due to this, Ashgabat is generally recognized as an important regional player and occupies significant positions in the system of international relations," said Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin.

Speaking with a televised address on the occasion of the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan, celebrated on February 18, the Russian Ambassador noted that the school of Turkmen diplomacy, committed to the principles of neutrality, tirelessly pursues a policy of mutual respect, peacefulness and readiness for dialogue both within international organizations and in bilateral formats. "The highest level of organization of international events has become the hallmark of Turkmenistan," the Ambassador stated.

"Russia has deep respect for the country's foreign policy, reflecting the conscious choice of sovereign Turkmenistan. After all, in order to remain truly neutral in the modern world with its dividing lines, not everyone's inherent steadfastness and character are important," the ambassador was quoted by the website of the Russian diplomatic mission in Ashgabat.

It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of the diplomatic service to the establishment of strong friendship and a high level of trust that have developed between the fraternal peoples of our countries, Volynkin noted. "I am confident that this year will also be fruitful for Russian-Turkmen relations and the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation."

In conclusion, the Ambassador congratulated the "outstanding Turkmen diplomat" – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, as well as the entire staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on his professional holiday, wishing further success for the benefit of the people.
