The United Arab Emirates is ready to become a global testing ground for the formation of rules for the use of new developments in the field of artificial intelligence.

This was stated by the UAE Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Omar Al Olama in an interview with Bloomberg news agency.

“This is an opportunity that I have a personal interest in realizing, and we will strive for it”, he said.

According to him, since 2021, the UAE has been able to attract artificial intelligence specialists. Thus, as of September last year, about 120 thousand specialized specialists worked in the Emirates. Previously, this figure did not exceed 30 thousand people.

Speaking via video link to an audience in the United Arab Emirates, the founder of the American research organization OpenAI, Sam Altman, announced the need to create a kind of “sandbox” in the UAE. In his opinion, the UAE's experience in applying new artificial intelligence technologies could be used to formulate rules when disseminating them in other countries.
