The Writers' Union of Uzbekistan will take part in the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly
Magtymguly’s work is a bridge of friendship between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, and this was once again confirmed in the Writers’ Union of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where on Wednesday, Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Tashkent Shadurdy Meredov met with Chairman of the Union Sirojiddin Saidov. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The interlocutors discussed the organization of joint events on the occasion of the celebrated this year 300th anniversary of the great thinker and poet, also revered in Uzbekistan to be held within the framework of the program of the Year of Magtymguly Fragi, announced by the International Organization of Turkic States/TURKSOY.
The legacy of Magtymguly is honored in Uzbekistan. One of the central streets of Tashkent is named after him, and in 2017 his bas-relief was installed there.
