Former head of the Presidential Administration Olzhas Bektenov became the new Prime Minister of Kazakhstan


President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed Olzhas Bektenov, the former head of his administration, to the post of Prime Minister of the republic. This is reported on the Akorda website.
Earlier, deputies of the Mejlis (lower house of parliament) at a meeting by a majority of votes agreed to the president to approve Bektenov's candidacy for the post of head of government.
"We have really ambitious goals and objectives, we need to start implementing them quickly if we want to increase our economy, the level of the economy in the coming years, we need new positions, a new look. Therefore, the composition will change, new persons will be appointed," Tokayev said, speaking in the Mejlis today, reports Tengrinews.kz The new Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, also made his first speech as Prime Minister at the meeting.
"The Head of State has given specific instructions in the direction of the country's economic development, they will be carried out. It is necessary to give a new economic impetus, to take really prompt and decisive measures. The focus will be on industry, oil and other important industries," Bektenov said.
"It is necessary to increase the share of products produced in Kazakhstan, we will fully launch the system of offtake contracts. Our main task is to support domestic business. It is important to use the potential of agriculture effectively. We will also actively work on water resources, energy conservation, transport and logistics network," the Prime minister added.
Bektenov is 43 years old, he graduated with honors from the Kazakh State Law Academy, worked in the Almaty Department of Justice, in the Office of the Prime Minister, headed the presidential administration, headed the Anti-Corruption Agency.
