By investing 3.5 billion US dollars in the infrastructure of renewable energy sources, Google is completely moving to the use of clean electricity. The company also took steps to reduce energy consumption, despite this, the data center - the most important component of the Internet - consumes a huge amount of energy. Therefore, Google decided that since they can not cut energy costs, then at least it is worth taking care that this energy would be environmentally friendly. A year ago, in December 2016, Google announced that it was planned to provide the same data centers with energy from renewable sources. And now, the goal is achieved: the company signed a contract with three wind farms located in the states of South Dakota, Iowa and Oklahoma. In total, the capacity of power plants is 536 megawatts. Together with solar power plants that used to be used by the company, the total power of clean electricity consumed by Google reached 3 gigawatts. Gary Demasi, Google Global Infrastructure Director, pointed out the benefits of using renewable energy: "As a result of a significant reduction in the cost of solar and wind power and a significant increase in jobs in this area, switching to clean energy provides unprecedented economic opportunities, faster than we expected " Today, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of renewable energy. In this regard, our country has great potential and resources, in particular solar energy. This opens up wide opportunities for optimizing energy consumption in the future, including providing Bitcoin data centers.
