Seven-year-old Charyhekim Charyev from Ashgabat and 10-year-old Aya Bayramova from Turkmenabat ahead of schedule became champions in their age categories before the last round of the Turkmenistan Chess Championship among cadets held in Ashgabat.

Having scored 8 points out of 8 possible and being 1.5 points ahead of his closest rivals, Charyhekim turned out to be unattainable. This year he has already become the national champion among schoolchildren in the under-7 age category. And this is a rare case when at the age of 7 a participant wins a tournament under 8 years of age, the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan noted.

In the age category of girls under 10 years old, as expected, Aya Bayramova proved her superiority and, having scored 7.5 points out of 8 possible, is 1.5 points ahead of her closest pursuers. Also this year, Aya already became the national champion in the age category among girls under 11 years old.

In the age category among girls under 8 years old, rapid champion Aylar Khemraeva (Mary) holds the sole lead with 7 points. Aya's younger sister, bronze medalist of the rapid tournament Gunesh Bayramova (Turkmenabat), is half a point behind her.

In the category of girls under 12 years old, this year’s champion among girls under 13 years old, Nebakhat Muradova, and the rapid champion Nurkhan Babanazarova (both from Turkmenabat) are leading with 7 points.

In the age category of boys under 10 years old, despite the massive resistance of strong representatives of Lebap and Mary schools, schoolchildren from the Dashoguz region Omarbek Ismailov and Salykh Annageldyev, who before the round had 6 points each, fought for leadership in the 8th round. In a stubborn fight, the more experienced Omarbek turned out to be more cunning, and outplayed his counterpart in a difficult ending. Also, with 7 points, the leadership with Omarbek is shared by Mahmut Meredov from Ashgabat, who in the 9th round will meet with Baygeldi Bazarov from Mary, who after 8 rounds closes the top three with 6.5 points.

The most exciting and stubborn struggle takes place in the age category of boys under 12 years old, where after the 8th round the participant in 10th place still has a mathematical chance of getting into the top three. In this group, after 8 rounds, unexpectedly but deservedly ahead with 7 points is Emir Berdyev (Ashgabat), who in the 3rd round sensationally beat one of the favorites of the tournament - national champion among boys under 13, Ali Akhmedov. Two already recognized and experienced leaders in this category, Rauf Yusupov and Alikhan Batyrov (both from Mary), are half a point behind Emir. In the 9th round, Emir will have to play with black pieces against Rauf, and Alikhan will meet with another representative from the Bayramov family - Suleiman, the older brother of Aya and Gunesh.

The last gaming day of the championship promises to be exciting! And after the end of the tournament with classic time control, on February 3 at 15:30 a blitz tournament began, where participants compete with a time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds for each move.
