18 sets of medals were awarded at the children’s chess championship: the residents of Lebap have the most
The largest tournament in the history of Turkmen chess ended today at the Ashgabat Chess and Draughts School. 310 children aged 6 to 12 years old won prizes in the categories up to 8, 10 and 12 years old. Also, for the first time, young national champions were determined in three types of chess at once – classical chess (with full time control), rapid (rapid chess) and blitz (lightning chess).
In comparison with previous years, the increased competition in each age category among both boys and girls is striking. The wide geography of both participants (who came from all regions of the country) and champions and medalists is also encouraging, the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan commented.
Among the champions are students of the Lebap, Mary, Ashgabat and Dashoguz chess schools. According to the merit and the total number of medals, the places among the regions were distributed in the following sequence:
- Lebap region – 9 gold, 7 silver, 9 bronze (total 25 medals out of 54)
- Ashgabat – 4 gold, 6 silver, 6 bronze (16 medals in total)
- Mary region – 4 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze (10 medals in total)
- Dashoguz region – 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze (3 medals in total)
Among the young athletes in the SHFT, those who were able to prove themselves in several chess formats at once were particularly noted:
• Charyhekim Charyev (Ashgabat) – boys’ category up to 8 years old, 1 gold medal, 2 silver
• Halilmuhammet Charyev (Ashgabat) – boys’ category up to 8 years old, 1 gold, 1 bronze
• Aylar Hemraeva (Mary) – girls under 8 years old, 2 gold
• Gunesh Bayramova (Lebap) – girls under 8 years old, 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze
• Mahmud Meredov (Ashgabat) – boys under 10 years old, 1 gold, 1 silver
• Nazar Narimanov (Lebap) – boys under 10 years old, 1 gold, 1 bronze
• Aya Bayramova (Lebap) – girls under 10 years old, 2 gold, 1 silver
• Dunya Ruslanova (Lebap) – girls under 10 years old, 1 gold, 2 silver
• Rauf Yusupov (Mary) – boys under 12 years old, 1 gold, 1 bronze
• Alihan Batyrov (Mary) – boys under 12 years old, 3 silver
• Nebahat Muradova (Lebap) – girls under 12 years old, 2 gold, 1 silver
• Nurhan Babanazarova (Lebap) – girls under 12 years old, 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze
At the international championships, our country will mainly be represented by the winners of the classical chess tournament, namely:
• Charyhekim Charyev (Ashgabat) – boys under 8 years old, 9 points out of 9 possible
• Aylar Hemraeva (Mary) – girls under 8 years old, 8 points out of 9
• Omarbek Ismailov (Dashoguz) – boys under 10 years old, 8 points out of 9
• Aya Bayramova (Lebap) – girls under 10 years old, 8.5 points out of 9
• Rauf Yusupov (Mary) – boys under 12 years old, 7.5 points out of 9
• Nebahat Muradova (Lebap) – girls under 12 years old, 8 points out of 9
