NRCST presented plans for further work


On January 31, the Central Office of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan held an information and educational event in a hybrid format with the participation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Central Asia, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in Turkmenistan.
The agenda of the event included issues of cooperation with international organizations and structures, primarily with the United Nations, interaction with which allows the NRCST to strengthen its potential by increasing the level of knowledge of employees and volunteers of the Society, it was reported in the news release of the Turkmen State Television.
Information was provided on plans for further activities of the NRCST, including data exchange with ministries and departments of the country, meetings and seminars, practical implementation of the Action Plan for 2024-2026 on the implementation of international humanitarian law in Turkmenistan.
The NRCST is a member of the Working Group of the Interdepartmental Commission on Ensuring Compliance with Turkmenistan's international Obligations in the field of human rights and International Humanitarian Law. In this context, the great work of the Society on the dissemination of knowledge about international humanitarian law and its implementation into legislation was noted. At the initiative of the NRCST, trainings and seminars are being held, and textbooks for secondary school teachers have been prepared.
It was also noted that Turkmenistan, as a permanent member of the International Organization for Migration, makes a significant contribution to the efforts of the world community by implementing projects and programs in the field of reducing statelessness.
Only in September 2023, 1,301 more people who are representatives of 32 nationalities and permanently residing in the country became citizens of Turkmenistan, 265 citizens of 13 states and representatives of 25 nationalities were issued residence permits. Over the years, 29,697 people have been admitted to the citizenship of Turkmenistan, and 4,753 foreign citizens and stateless persons have received residence permits.
