Kazakhstan has offered Pakistan to establish mutual transportation through Turkmenistan and Afghanistan
Currently, there is no railway connection between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, but there is a potential for using transit corridors, including through Turkmenistan.
This was stated by Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev during a meeting on Tuesday, January 23, with the First Deputy Minister of Communications, Railways and Maritime Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. "Today it is possible to organize a multimodal communication along the Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan route, taking into account the transportation of goods by rail and road," he said.
Lastayev confirmed Kazakhstan's intention to develop cooperation with the IRP and noted that the parties first of all need to create an effective transport and logistics system that will play a crucial role in activating partnerships, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
He also spoke about possible prospects for cooperation in the maritime sector and suggested jointly developing the international transport corridors North-South and TMTM (Medium/Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor).
