Belarus will begin serial production of electric vehicles by the beginning of 2025

The task of starting mass production of electric vehicles based on the Belgee X50 model in the country by January 1, 2025 was set by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a visit to the BELGEE plant, BELTA reports.
In a conversation with journalists, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Pyotr Parkhomchik explained that by the end of this year, specialists will have to create the necessary technological capacities for the production of components used in electric vehicles. For example, it is necessary to establish the production of gears for high-speed gearboxes.
“We can produce gears for BELAZ, MAZ, trucks, but we cannot produce gears for passenger vehicles,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Next, a pilot batch of electric vehicles should be released and all processes related to their certification should be completed.
In the production process of the electric car, it is planned to involve Belarusian enterprises, including the Izmeritel plant and OJSC Integral.
The electric car will have the body of the first Belarusian car Belgee X50. It is also planned to carry out welding work, painting and other operations at the BELGI plant. This will minimize costs.
According to Peter Parkhomchik, the first prototypes will be assembled at BELGI.
