The Turkmen delegation led by Rashid Meredov will hold negotiations in Tokyo


The Turkmen delegation led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov is on a working visit to Japan on January 22-23.
The visit program includes meetings in the government, parliament, ministries and departments, negotiations with the leadership of financial and export credit agencies, leading Japanese companies, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agenda of the meetings is focused on strengthening interstate dialogue, expanding inter-parliamentary contacts, political and diplomatic interaction, building up trade-economic partnership and scientific-educational ties.
In June 2023, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that he would instruct the country’s foreign ministry to work on launching a format for summit meetings with the heads of state of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Regular high-level meetings between Japan and Central Asian countries were scheduled to begin in 2024.
