Ashgabat to convene OSCE conference on the role of neutral States in strengthening security and trust


To hold an international conference in the Turkmen capital in the first half of the year on the role of neutral states in strengthening security and trust in the OSCE region, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov made such a proposal at a government meeting on Friday.
During the forum, according to the speaker, it is planned to consider topics that reveal the importance of the Turkmen model of neutrality in achieving universal peace, ensuring international security and sustainable development, as well as issues explaining the essence of the “Global Security Strategy” initiated by the President of Turkmenistan.
At the same time, it is envisaged during the discussion to once again prove the exceptional relevance of the practical application of techniques and methods of neutrality and political and diplomatic tools in resolving international conflicts, crises and contradictions.
Permanent representatives of OSCE member States are scheduled to be invited to participate in the international conference “The Role of Neutral States in Strengthening Security and Confidence in the Organization for Security and Co- operation in Europe region”.
Continuing the theme of strengthening partnership with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Rashid Meredov made a proposal to organize a visit of the OSCE Secretary General to Turkmenistan in March.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to implement the voiced proposals at a level appropriate to their relevance.
