Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd will form an alliance in 2025

The Danish company specializing in maritime cargo transportation and port terminal services of Maersk and the German transport company Hapag-Lloyd will create a joint alliance.
The partnership, which starts in February 2025, is called the Gemini Cooperation. It aims to create a flexible, interconnected and reliable ocean network.
As part of the alliance, Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk will jointly operate 290 vessels with a total capacity of 3.4 million TEU. 60% of them will be provided by Maersk, and 40% by Hapag-Lloyd.
Maersk Chief Executive Officer Vincent Clerc said that the company is pleased to partner with Hapag-Lloyd, an ideal ocean partner. Hapag-Lloyd expressed hope for increasing the efficiency of the enterprise.
In addition to improving service quality, the collaboration will lead to shorter transit times along major port-to-port corridors.
