The Turkmen and Iranian delegations discussed the simplification of road freight transportation across the border


Representatives of the relevant departments of Turkmenistan and Iran held a meeting on the issues of road freight transportation through the border customs posts Artyk-Lotfabad. The meeting took place on January 16 at the Artyk Ahal customs post.
The Turkmen delegation included representatives of customs, migration, border services, road transport and railway agencies and other structures. The Iranian delegation was headed by the head of the Lotfabad customs post. In addition, the meeting was attended by the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Iran (Mashhad), as well as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in the Ahal region.
In the context of the prospects for increasing border traffic, the possibilities of increasing the working time at the Artyk-Lotfabad posts, simplifying the issuance of visas for truck drivers and reducing waiting times due to accelerated cargo inspection were discussed. The issue of repairing the Iranian part of the road running between the customs posts was also raised.
Mutual understanding and willingness to continue close cooperation were reached on all issues discussed, according to a press release from the Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
