The municipality of Abu Dhabi, as part of the "My City is more Beautiful" initiative, held a waste collection championship on the Yas Bay embankment, a major entertainment center in the UAE capital.

The purpose of this event was to inspire community members to improve the cleanliness of the environment, maintain the aesthetics of the city, protect public health and meet the criteria of sustainable development.

The championship, organized jointly with partners such as the Friends of the Environment Society and the Abu Dhabi General Police Department, was attended by representatives of various sectors of society and ages.

The participants, divided into categories such as individuals, families, organizations and people of determination (people with disabilities), competed in collecting recyclable waste in neighborhoods and on the streets. Teams consisting of 2-5 participants were given a one-hour time interval to collect waste, classify it and weigh it according to specific scores (it is noteworthy that cigarette butt collectors received the highest scores).

The championship, the first for the city of Abu Dhabi, combined competition with raising awareness, attracting significant public participation and achieving environmental and social goals.

And last weekend, Dubai hosted the traditional international marathon, which was attended by elite world runners, as well as thousands of amateurs from different countries.

In a video posted on Instagram by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, he thanked four children by name for cleaning the street after the end of the Dubai Marathon: that's how he commented on the video where these guys were cleaning the street.
