Taking into account the need to intensify the transition to the use of renewable energy sources, Turkmenistan pays special attention to this area of the electricity industry.

Currently, a solar and wind power plant with a capacity of 10 megawatts is being built in the Gyzylarbat etrap of the Balkan region, the Balkan newspaper reports. Its construction is carried out within the framework of the implementation of the “Concept for the development of the regions of the Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr” in 2019-2025.”

New power plants will further improve the power supply to populated areas, and will also create conditions for a significant increase in the volume of electricity exports to foreign markets.

In November of the last year, the foundation of a modern gas-steam power plant with a production capacity of 1,574 megawatts was laid in the Turkmenbashi etrap. It will become the second most powerful modern power plant in Turkmenistan.

Modern power facilities make it possible to establish waste-free production in the country and significantly reduce the amount of harmful waste emitted into the atmosphere.

Let us recall that currently there are 12 power plants operating in Turkmenistan with a total capacity of 7 thousand megawatts.
