China: partner news in a nutshell (01/02/2024)
Thousands of satellites will be sent to the Celestial Empire. The first satellite of the G60 Starlink project has been launched in China, which will become part of the future Internet communication network. The G60 constellation will include about 12 thousand orbitals. Of these, the first 108 are planned to be launched this year.
The main goal of the system is to provide broadband Internet access to users around the world. The project is managed by state-owned Shanghai Gesi Aerospace Technology (Genesat), founded in 2022 by the Microsatellite Innovation Academy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
After the launch in 2021 of the China Satellite Network Group for the Guowang Project (SatNet) with 13 thousand devices, G60 Starlink is the second large communications constellation in low Earth orbit. So, the indomitable Chinese Dragon is rushing to the heights of the Celestial Empire.
For comparison: SpaceX's Starlink space internet communications network, owned by Elon Musk, currently has about 5,000 satellites operating in space.
In space, the speeds are cosmic. The People's Republic of China has implemented ultra-high-speed laser communications in outer space, as announced by the Executive Vice President of Nationstar Aerospace, Dr. Zhao Hongjie. For greater clarity, he gave an example according to which it would take less than one second to transfer a 1 GB movie from Earth to the Chinese space station.
Zhao Hongjie also stated that in the future, data transfer speeds could increase tenfold, reaching 100 Gbps.
It was previously reported that in June last year, the Chinese Academy of Sciences made a breakthrough in the field of laser high-speed communications. Then the Jilin-1 satellite was launched, with which it was possible to establish communication with the ground station at a speed of 10 Gbit/s.
Faster, longer, more convenient. Modern China has as many high-speed railway lines as there are in all other countries of the world combined! The Chinese high-speed network is 8 times longer than the French, 10 times the Japanese, 20 times the British and 500 times the American!
In China, railway transport, compared to other types of transportation, has many advantages. Traveling by high-speed train is shorter in time than flying, but not by much. However, given the need to be at the airport earlier, the tedious wait for check-in, checking luggage, etc., the time of arrival at the destination by plane and by train is approximately comparable. But the cost of a train ticket is much lower than an air ticket.
New auto expansion. According to the customs data of the PRC, the export of cars from the Celestial Empire from January to November 2023 amounted to 4.76 million units, that is, by this indicator, the PRC was ahead of the world auto leaders of the the USA, Japan and Germany.
According to Secretary General of the China Passenger Automobile Association, Cui Dongshu, if the world situation is calm, the export of Chinese cars could exceed 5.2 million units for the entire year. But with a result of 4.76 million units, China showed a growth rate of 56%, taking first place in the list of the largest exporters of cars.
The export of Chinese brands has entered a new stage associated with the development of new energy and the growing popularity of vehicles powered by new energy sources.
Leading the energy transition in shipbuilding. Shipbuilders in the Celestial Empire have set an ambitious goal - to lead the global transition to “environmentally friendly” shipping.
Chinese shipyards currently produce half of the world's merchant tonnage, about 38 million CGT per year. According to the published seven-year plan to dominate the “green” shipbuilding market, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China expects to achieve a 50% share in the global market for LNG, methanol, ammonia and other green energy by 2025.
Major Chinese companies have already shown progress in reducing their emissions of pollutants and carbon dioxide. The country's industrial enterprises reduced their total energy consumption by 13.5% compared to 2020 levels. China plans to accomplish the complete modernization of its shipbuilding industry by 2030.
Leadership in Affordable Solar Panels. The cost of producing solar cells in China has fallen to a record low. According to analysts, the low price of solar modules has led to the fact that Western manufacturers have ceased to be competitors for China in this market and are unlikely to become so in the future.
Over the year, Chinese companies have doubled the output of solar panels compared to the combined output of their main foreign competitors. Today, 80% of the world's production capacity for these products is concentrated in China.
Wood Mackenzie vice president and energy and renewables expert Stephen Nell said: “The outlook for available components in the market is encouraging given the current capacity race, but Chinese competitors are unlikely to win the price war. China has already won the green technology capacity race.”
For economic globalization on a fair basis. More than 40% of world GDP is created by the USA and China (about 25 and 18%, respectively); the economic health of the planet primarily depends on the economies of these two countries. The PRC, in turn, stands for building economic globalization on a fair basis, taking into account the interests of developing countries.
An article in one of the world's leading newspapers, People's Daily, states: “We must grow together and fairly divide the “pie” of economic globalization so that different countries, different strata and different groups of people can participate in economic and social development and enjoy its fruits, to achieve mutual benefit, win-win situation and common prosperity.”
