The head of Harvard University leaves the post

Harvard University President Claudine Gay is resigning. She announced this in her letter to the Harvard community.

"This decision was not easy for me. Moreover, it was very difficult, it is impossible to put into words," Dr. Gay wrote.

Claudine Gay was elected the new thirtieth president of Harvard University on December 15, 2022. She became the first black woman to serve as rector of this prestigious American institution of higher education.

Claudine Gay came into office on July 1, 2023.
