The 5th national economic census has started in China


On January 1, 2024, the 5th national Economic census officially began in China. This is reported by the Xinhua News Agency with reference to the State Statistical Office of the People's Republic of China.
Over the next almost four months, about 2.1 million census takers will visit enterprises and settlements in order to collect and register economic data at 1.16 million sites.
A national economic census is conducted in China every five years. Within its framework, information is registered on the ground, random data quality control is carried out and subsequently basic information is published.
As noted by the head of the State Statistical Office of the People's Republic of China, Kang Yi, during the 5th national economic census, the level of development, structure and effectiveness of the secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy of China will be comprehensively studied.
The census will also clarify economic relations between sectors of the national economy, assess the progress of China's key economic objectives, and for the first time coordinate efforts to conduct an input-output study.
