The crew of the International Space Station will celebrate the New Year several times - according to the time of Moscow, Houston and Tokyo, reports Oleg Kononenko, special correspondent of TASS, commander of the Roscosmos cosmonaut detachment.

"We will all meet together. On the ISS, the New Year will be exactly as many times as it crosses the time zones where the New Year has already arrived. This is ballistics, we need to look at it. Therefore, no one bothers and answers that 16 times, which means only the number of turns per day, and not the intersection of time zones. The crew will definitely celebrate the New Year in Moscow, Houston, Tokyo and Denmark, where Andreas is from," Kononenko said.

Earlier, he said that the ISS crew will celebrate the new year on the Russian segment of the station.

Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chub and Konstantin Borisov, NASA astronauts Jasmine Mogbeli and Loral O'Hara, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, and JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa are currently on watch at the ISS.
