Branch of CNPC in Turkmenistan together with the State Concern "Turkmengas" trains young specialists
Since 2009, the CNPCIT branch has been sending young citizens of Turkmenistan to study at the higher educational institution of the People's Republic of China - China Petroleum University (Beijing) as part of the implementation of the Production Sharing Agreement concluded between CNPC and the State Concern "Turkmengas". Graduates of the China Petroleum University receive an international diploma of higher professional education.
Every year, the CNPCIT branch, together with the China Petroleum University, with the participation of the State Concern "Turkmengas" and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, forms a commission for the examination selection of citizens of Turkmenistan to be sent to study at the China Petroleum University. Based on the results of testing and interviews, university teachers select the most distinguished individuals from the total number of applicants. Training at the China Petroleum University is conducted in the following specialties of higher professional education:
Oil and gas engineering;
Transportation and storage of oil and gas;
Geology and exploration of oil and gas fields, and mineral resources;
Development and operation of oil and gas fields;
Chemical engineering and technology;
Mechanical design and automation;
International trade and economics.
Before starting their studies in their chosen specialty, Turkmen students undergo a preliminary one-year course in the Chinese language at the university according to the preparatory program of the China Petroleum University. The duration of training in the specialty is 4 years.
Over the 15 years of its activity in Turkmenistan, the CNPCIT branch, with the direct active participation of the Turkmengas State Concern, sent 158 Turkmen students to receive higher education. The first graduates left the university in 2014, and now they have become qualified specialists in the oil and gas sector. Currently, the China Petroleum University has trained and graduated more than 130 young specialists under this program, the vast majority of whom work in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. After completing work experience as young specialists, many graduates continued their studies at the China Petroleum University for master's and doctoral studies.
Along with this, paying tribute to the policy of the leadership of Turkmenistan, aimed at creating conditions for the younger generations of Turkmenistan to achieve new heights of progress, taking into account that 2023 in Turkmenistan has been declared the year of “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”, the CNPCIT branch organized a summer educational and introductory practice for students of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakaev (IUOG) at the China Petroleum University. Also the university organized a summer practical training for IUOG students on the right bank of the Amu Darya, where the branch carries out its long-term comprehensive activities in the research, development and production of natural gas in the Bagtyyarlyk territory.
Turkmenistan and China are the largest natural gas trading partners. Such programs help identify and develop talented specialists for the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan, as well as strengthen cooperation between China and Turkmenistan on energy, scientific and educational issues.
