Tourists from Turkmenistan began to go on holiday to Azerbaijan more often

In January-November 2023, Azerbaijan was visited by 121,467 tourists from Central Asian countries, which is 83% more than in the same period in 2022 (66,316 people), Azernews reports.

The largest increase, according to the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, was shown by the number of tourists from Turkmenistan - almost two and a half times (2.46 times compared to the same period of the last year), amounting to 23,401 people.

At the same time, the most tourists were from Kazakhstan - 53,249 (an increase of 90.7% year-on-year). This is followed by Uzbekistan - 35,222 (an increase of 49.7%). Other neighbors in the region have the following figures: Kyrgyzstan - 5184 (increase 78.8%), Tajikistan - 4411 (increase 78.3%).

In total, 1,893,679 tourists visited Azerbaijan during the reporting period (an increase of 29.8%).

Representatives of the country's tourism sector are setting goals to increase the flow of tourists in the next few years. According to their forecasts, by 2026 the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan annually will reach 4 million people.
